Who is Pnk Clover?
Pnk Clover started out in early 2022 as an idea to get out of the 9 to 5 grind. We are a husband and wife team (Katie & Walter) but it didn't start out that way. It was initially the idea of Katie to start a candle business. She started in our kitchen testing and trying to figure out what she liked and how to make it work. I found it interesting how little changes could effect the outcome so much. So I jumped into the rabbit hole with her and together we figured out our strengths and weakness with in the business.
You may think candle making is easy, just melt some wax and add some scent and done. WRONG there is a lot of science, chemistry and luck that go into making a good candle.
After going though hundreds of pounds of wax trying to figure out what works, we finally found a combination of soy and coconut wax that performed to our expectations.
Once we figured out the wax it was onto figuring out what scents performed the best as well. We made all kinds of combinations that sounded good until you lit them and then they smelled like dog farts. Ok maybe not that bad but they were gross. We finally came to a few scents that worked really well and had the scent throw we were looking for.
We started with 10 scents to initially launch with they are our Signature collection. As the season progressed with introduced new scents in out Autumn and Holiday Collection. We believe they are scents that really embrace the season.
In mid October 2022 we decided to move into the wax melt space as well, to provide the same great scents at an affordable price. Yet again there was a ton of research that went to those as well. We decided to make our wax melts with natural soy wax to remain sustainable and not reliant upon the oil industry. We will not use paraffin wax in any of our products.
Now fast forward to now January 2023 we are not longer working in our kitchen we have moved to a studio in our basement. We still pour small batches of candles and wax melts. Usually less than 20 candles per run. We now have 40+ scents in our store with more to come as we experiment to find out what we think will work best for our customers.
